When “Prophetic” Evangelicals Call It Wrong

Over the past few months I have seen and heard many Prophets or in some cases profits “prophesy” and some “prophi -lie” about what is going to happen in the 2020 election. Now, I know this has been going on for decades, but it seems to have really ramped up in the past few months.  I had subscribed to a “prophet” on YouTube and he really did seem to share good sound word.  But then came the election and every few days would be a “prophetic” word that “Trump will win”. A video that something was going to happen and there is going to be a wave of States turning red with the election results being overturned on December 12th (here we are January 20th and Joe Biden is in office). A week before the inauguration, there was one video titled, “stop packing” still declaring victory for Donald Trump.

When this particular gentleman makes a “prophecy” that does not happen, and there have been several, i.e. December 12th the goalposts shift. Donald Trump is packed up and out of office, again the goalposts shift. The amazing move of God that is going to happen in the next two days for victory to overturn the results, the goalposts shift again.  Then there was the “pray at 7pm, for 7 minutes for 7 days for victory for Donald Trump”.  Yes, you guessed it, the goalposts shifted and the declaration now is, “it’s not over”.

Dude, none of your prophecies have happened.  Yet there are hundreds and I do mean hundreds of , “Amen”, “I believe”, “thank you brother”, “I needed to hear that” etc. comments under each video.  With the last video I watched on the day of the inauguration, still no acknowledgement of the inaccuracies by the way, yet telling those watching to sow a financial seed. Wait! What?

When did people become so blind and gullible, or where we always this way? So desperate to hear something to give hope of what we want to happen, we literally believe anything that is said and sometimes pay any price?  Even when there is an obvious trail of what is said not coming to pass.  Yet still there are millions around the world hanging on to every word spoken, not by God but by a “prophet”.  And please don’t get me started on the African and South American Angels that obviously stayed where they were.  They were having no part of this tomfoolery! This is not good, safe or healthy.

There is no shame in saying that you misheard and going back to God. Honesty and humility go a long way.  Deuteronomy 18:22 “when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him”.

We all need to hear from God for ourselves and hear what God is saying to each of us, and stop basing all we do and believe on “prophetic” words. We all know there are false prophets everywhere. But do we just call them out when they are speaking what we don’t want to hear. Why are we not calling them out when what is “prophesied” doesn’t happen. Why are they given a pass?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not bashing all prophets, because there are true real prophets and prophecies, 2 Chronicles 20:20 “Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God; so shall ye be established. Believe His prophets; so shall ye prosper”.  But we aren’t supposed to just believe everything they say.  We are told to test the spirits, 1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world”.

The thing with prophecies is that they could well have been right at the time.  However, God can and will remove His Hand and His anointing due to pride, disobedience, ego etc. If it wasn’t for Saul’s disobedience, here would not have been David. Saul was initially anointed of God by the prophet Samuel, 1 Samuel 15:1-9.  But if you read further on, God said he regretted making Saul King because Saul had turned back from following Him and didn’t keep His commandments.  Because of arrogance, pride and disobedience Saul was subsequently rejected from being king 1 Samuel 15:23 “Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you from being king.”

I’m not sure that God would want people teargassed for a photo op with a Bible held upside down. Whose name was that done in and for what purpose? What was the point of that? It felt very self-serving. Let us not forget Nebuchadnezzar and what pride did there.  Nebuchadnezzar took the blessing and gift of his life of abundance, success and riches for granted. He allowed pride to rule his life. He failed to acknowledge God as the one who blessed him with his wealth, success and power by making it all about himself.  He boasted of all he had done, his achievements, all the things he had done for the kingdom, how he had built it up.  He was warned of his pride and what would happen.  But he didn’t listen, the result of his foolish pride was that he fell from the riches of grace to eating grass. Imagine that, from grace to grass!

To be abundantly clear, just because I disagree does not mean that I have no faith! My relationship with God is just that, between He and I. Just because I disagree does not mean that I agree, with all that ANY political party legislates. God gives us free will to choose. So why would I then say that a person does not have free will? Am I in the place of God?

I have watched the inauguration of Joe Biden. Who is now in the White House, although it was “prophesied” that he will never put his hand on the Bible to be sworn in or that he will never sit in the White House.  Both of which have happened, there he is in the White House. He acknowledged COVID and those who died, it wasn’t brushed off as something that will blow over. He showed compassion and empathy.  I am astounded how many people there are saying that Donald Trump is God’s chosen and ordained. I’m not saying he was and I’m not saying he wasn’t that is God’s decision. Where did they get that from? I’m not sure that God’s chosen one brags about grabbing women by the p#$%y, or mocks a man with a disability, or calls veterans that died or injured in war fighting for the country he says he loves as losers, or calls people that peacefully protest about inequality SOB’s. Who shows little to no compassion for others, but talks of all he has done.

When was any of that like anything like Jesus with all of the love and compassion we are supposed to show each other? Like Jesus did and like the Bible teaches. 1 Corinthians 13:1- 3 1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

The Bible says that God is not the author of confusion and yet the past few years have been filled with so much confusion, people fighting against each other and hating each other because they have a different opinion, belief or skin color. 1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace”. Yet I am not hearing anyone talk of or praying for Donald Trump repenting and giving his life to Christ”. I hear more people praying that Donald Trump is God’s anointed and appointed and that there was demonic interference in the election.  I hear very few praying for the will of God to be done, whether it is who they voted for or not, I am hearing very few pray for his salvation.

If Joe Biden is the president, which he now is, then that is what God has ordained, that is the will and plan of God. None of this is a surprise to God. No demon in hell or on the earth, can thwart or stop the plan and will of God. Or have we chosen to ignore Daniel 2:20-22 ” Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him”. So why are we fighting the will of God.  To be fair I said the same thing when people where protesting when Donald Trump was elected president.  Wherever is in office that is who God put there!  Whether it is Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, George Bush, Barak Obama, Donald Trump or Joe Biden.

Will all of the people who have literally cursed Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and those that voted for them now pray as fervently and as passionately for them as they did for Donald Trump? Will those same people, fast and pray for guidance, protection and wisdom for Biden and Harris?  Rather than pray for unity and wisdom, I have heard some shocking things said in the name of the Lord.  Ministers saying that anyone who voted democrat is cursed and so are their future generations. I have heard ministers pronouncing curses, sickness and poverty on people that didn’t vote for who he believed in. The bible clearly states that we are to pray for our leaders. It doesn’t say only pray for the leaders we prefer. 1 Timothy 2:1-3 “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior.”

It is time that each person wakes up, (I didn’t say be “woke”) learn to heard from God for themselves and live according to His will, plan and purpose for our lives, we all have a purpose.  Not live according to what the prophet says today.  That is really no different to those who allow horoscopes to dictate their every move.

So, what’s it going to be? Blindly follow every prophecy, horoscope or whatever you choose to call it. Or find out for yourself what your purpose is and what the plan is for your life?
